SGL Forestry is currently looking for motivated people to join our small team.
We are a professional tree and grounds maintenance company working for major companies, such as Ground control, SSE, Coombes, Land and water, and others, maintaining railway lines, electricity pylons waterways, and more.
We pride ourselves on offering an efficient and excellent service to our customers, and we are looking for people who want to help us deliver this vital service.
Successful applicants will be able to arrive at the yard in good time to travel to whichever job they are assigned. They will be able to follow instructions in their work packs but also be able to think for themselves and solve problems. They must be a competent team player and be prepared to take on extra training as and when required.
Although training can be arranged, it would be a huge advantage if candidates had some of the following: Qualifications in cross-cutting and maintenance, tree climbing, using a chainsaw from a rope and harness, aerial rescue, Railway safety (PTS & COSS) , workplace first aid and Forestry and a full clean driving license with own transport would all be very desirable.
Depending on qualifications applicants can expect to earn between £60 and £120 per day.
In line with our covid related risk assessment Operatives are asked to perform a lateral flow test once at the start of the working week and maintain social distance where possible. The use of a mask when traveling in shared company transport, and good hand hygiene are recommended.
We often get opportunities for overtime at night and at the weekend should anyone be super keen.

Wonderful service, highly recommended. SGL Forestry were recommended to me as efficient & trustworthy when I needed 2 trees removed from my mother’s garden. Two polite & hardworking men made short work of the two trees - one of which was HUGE! I didn’t want it all removed as I wanted the wood for my own fire, so I asked them to leave it in the garden. When I returned there were two large, neat piles of big & small branches that had been cut into manageable chunks, stacked neatly out of the way where they could season without being obstructive.
